Post #1: New Tech, New Biz, New Opportunities
Alternative infrastructures for New Business Primitives
One of the main problems within the tech space is that the products and infrastructure that are created are heralded as innovative without any real-world use. As we've seen in the web3 space and now with AI, the tech is exciting, but what do we actually use it for? Outside of trending on hype cycles, real adoption by consumers beyond early adopters and enthusiasts doesn't necessarily translate to real business development or growth. If there is no adoption, then great ideas get left behind.
But what does this look like? Where are the opportunities to create things people want beyond starting an NFT project or an AI wrapper riding a wave of speculation? An interesting video(watch here) to check out is by Nicholas, a developer who hosts the Web3 Galaxy Brain podcast(link). He discusses an accessible dev stack to build products that can easily go to market, reducing the friction of user adoption of new tech. Another piece of emerging infrastructure is IYK, which recently wrapped up a significant funding round. They are building infrastructure to allow anyone to easily integrate both NFT and web3 tech into their businesses, unlocking brand interactions that, in my opinion, have previously only been possible for large teams or orgs.
The intention behind both of these examples is to highlight the need for culturally relevant components. The tech is there to enable cool use cases, but we lack shining examples. A couple of projects worth noting are TITLES , who are building AI-powered remixing and publishing tools that could be a next-level Tumblr (and leveraging Zora; a separate post focusing on the on-chain narrative being built there is in the works). Blackbird offers another interesting use case with new membership rewards programs. While they focus on restaurants, their stack could be adapted for other business types or uses. This adaptability could be the key to unlocking blockchain's potential for everyday use.
Now for link seeds.
